Reading this entry it occurred to me that security professional spans both the technical and business side of a business.  If you could imagine that the link between technical and business is a coupling that must remain secure if the organization is  to remain successful. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of another role in a organization that does this.  Legal, Audit, HR are particular functions within an organization that are intended to protect the company, but only a Security Officer will keep each group aligned by removing redundancies and filling gaps.  This is typically the role of the CEO.

Perhaps a career in security is really the pre-cursor to becoming a CEO.
