VMWare and the deployment cycle
A colleague of mine pointed out another benefit virtualization that I had overseen. Virtualization folks have long talked about the ability for a company to ship a server that is ready to run, but his point was that applications don’t need to be qualified from dev, integration, staging and production as they can simply move from one VM container to the next without modification. This could speed up deployment of complex applications and reduce deployment cost.
